Design Principles
Task 3
LECTURE
Lecture this week was focusing about the other two of the design principles, which are repetition and movement.
Repetition- Repeated specific elements of visual art to create patterns, movements, rhythms or unity.
Repeated items in an art piece can be all identical objects or repeated objects but with different sizes, colors, and positions. For example,
Identical objects:

Objects repetition:

Movement- The path taken by the artwork in the eyes of the audience is usually the focal point. Movement can be oriented along lines, edges, shapes, and colors in the artwork. The artist uses movement to guide the viewer's sight through a piece of art.

1. Make sure you have TWO designs, one for repetition and one for movement.
2. Upload both designs in PDF file in your blog.
3. Send your blog link in Google Classroom.
4. Your blog must be in your actual name for easy identification. Make sure it has:
a) visual research
b) idea exploration
c) feedback from lecturer
d) final design outcome (pictures must neatly cropped and must not be shadowy/blur)
e) brief reflection for the week
PROGRESS
a. Visual research.
In this visual research part, I have done it by looking up photos about repetition and movement on Pinterest website. I have found all sorts of interesting looking designs like:
Pictures from Pinterest.
Figure 0.3: Art by Louise Zhang, 22 April 2021
This art piece done by an artist, Louise Zhang had inspired me for the ideation of Movement. I love the way how it looks like its flowing colors as a whole. So, I would like to try and create a design base on this flowing colors idea.
Figure 0.4: Poster art by Junji Ito, 22 April 2021
When my lecturer mentioned about repetition in class, the first thing that came to my mind was this art poster done by a manga artist, Junji Ito. I want to create a design by using the repetition of eyes.
b. Idea exploration.
1. Idea 1 (Repetition)
Figure 1.1: Initial sketch of Repetition, 23 April 2021
This rough sketch of Repetition was representing the principles by using many eyes as a piece, The repetition of the eyes but with different sizes flowing from bottom right to top left.
2. Idea 2 (Movement)
Figure 1.2: Initial sketch of Movement, 23 April 2021
The focal point of movement principle in this ideation was flowing from the middle to outer, as shown by the swirl drawn there.
Fixation of ideation 2:
Figure 1.3: Changes of Movement, 24 April 2021
For this part, I decided to change the focal point from blue color point to the red color point. That flow from point red makes it look better.

c. Feedback.
d. Final design outcome.
