PROGRESS
a. Inspirations
Part 1: Idea development (Week 10)
Mood board: 3 posters references
Inspiration posters taken from Pinterest.
b. Sketches and Pictures
Part 2: Design direction (Week 11)
Figure 1.0: Photo of myself, 14 June 2021
Figure 1.1: photos of separate hands, 14 June 2021
The posture in these photos I took here was actually me holding and looking at a flower. I chose to wear formal and bright outfit so that it goes well with my theme which I will be doing some bright and yellow kind of theme for my poster. As you can see, I decided to have two other separate photos for each of my hands. This way, I am able to cut out the hands and easy to animate them in After Effects. I also wanted to animate the hair, eyes, eyebrows, and all the torsos as well so I cut them all out and put them as separate layers in Photoshop.
Sketches for the poster.
I decided to go with the one on the right, with the flowers spinning at the back.

Digitalized posters.
the one on the left was not acceptable due to the visual was a bit too extreme for schools so Lecturer told me to create something more positive looking. The one on the left was actually just a concept of a puppet being controlled. But still, I decided to choose the one on the right which is the things that represent me, the animation, the daisy flowers, and so on.
I actually finished the first idea of the poster sooner, the one with the controlled puppet, so I'm going to leave this process here as well. It is okay for me to abandon this idea because I can still count this as an animation practice in After Effects.

Usually when we animating the eyes, we have to put at least 3-4 pins to each of the eyelids, including the under eyelids as well. This way, it would look more natural when it is blinking. We must have each of the eyelids all separate with different layers. Then create new null object layers to channel them together in order to have the subjects move together.
Figure 1.8: Animation process, 21 June 2021
For the animation overall, I made the daisy flowers spin in the same direction but with slightly different speed to it. The one at the back spins slower, the ones on the front spins faster. I added a lot of effects to it in order to create the glowing and shadow effects and so on. As for the character, I used puppet tools to animate the hair, eyes, hands, torsos, and all the movements in different layers. Then do the same as creating null objects to make all the layers move in sync.

Part 3: Video Process (Week 13)

Figure 2.0: Adding transitions and effects, 22 June 2021
For this part, I added new adjustment layer and applied Camera Lens Blur to it in order to create blur in and blur out effects. Then, add another solid layer to create a simple vignette effect to make the poster look more stand out.

FEEDBACK
Week 11
Specific feedback: Apparently, I have to redo and create another poster idea which leads to a more positive vibe because I missed one of the consultation and Mr. Fauzi said my idea of a puppet is not acceptable. This is all because of how I made the visual looked so depressed I suppose. It was lucky that I am able to quickly think of something new again and start to work from the beginning again. Mr. Fauzi also complemented me that I have good skills of editing the posters.
General feedback: Try to avoid any signs of negative vibe to our posters. Try to focus only on one composition when animating, as it is a poster to begin with.
Week 12
Specific feedback: I shared my video editing process with Mr. Fauzi and he liked it, he suggested that one thing I can improvise for the animation is the lightening effects. Maybe I could add some light rays and following the melody of the audio. So I added more glowing effects as my last touch to my animation.
General feedback: Make sure we choose the right audio to our videos. Make sure our image is precisely cropped.
REFLECTION
Experience: This last project was actually one of my favorite assignment so far. i enjoyed animating videos and adding audios to it. It was sure not easy for me at first as well, but, I bring myself to understand the steps to animate by using After Effects. I learned how to animate just recently and it was surprisingly fun for me. Anyways, when I first started this assignment, I actually wanted to speed run this assignment and make time for my other projects. Unfortunately, I had to redo my video and posters just because I missed one of the consultations to get feedback from lecturer. I went the wrong way by showing the signs of negative vibe to my poster, which is actually not my intention. But still, it does not take long for me to figure out a new ideation. Overall, it was quite the fun experience I would say.
Observations: I have observed that there are so many ideas creating our self-titled posters. I have seen many of my classmates' works and it was just so mesmerizing to encounter so many different ideas from different people.
Findings: I have learned that we can just simply apply the levels to the photos we took in Photoshop to give the photos a better quality. Using the selection tools does not give us a clean cut to the photos, we can use pen tool to crop out the photos to get a good clean cut.
