PROGRESS
a. Visual research.
For the visual research part, I went on Pinterest as usual to get some ideas of what I would do for this self-portrait.
Figure 1.0: Saved Pins on Pinterest, 14 May 2021
These artworks above was actually some of the saved pins I have on Pinterest. I looked through the artworks and somehow got some ideas of what style my portrait will be.
Figure 1.2: Color theme ideation, 14 May 2021
Figure 1.2 above was one of the artworks that I had created for the other task before. I loved the principle of harmony and unity so I would like to try doing something very harmony for the self-portrait, which means the colors will be soft nicely harmonize.
Artworks by an artist, SANHO from Korea.
These are some of the portraits I found very attractive and interesting to my likings as well. These portraits were done wonderfully with applying all the design principles accurately. These really inspired me on my ideations for the portrait.
b. Idea exploration.
Figure 1.3: "Caged" by me, watercolor and color pencils on paper, 06 March 2021
This was one of the portraits I had done before by applying the nature and man-made objects to one self-portrait. I have always loved to make use of the plants and animals to do artworks, so I will try to use some favorite plants of mine to draw the self-portrait again this time.
Figure 1.4: Sketches of myself, 16 May 2021
I started to sketch out myself tried to find what style of the character should be good for the portrait. Perhaps I will use the bottom one, roughly.
Figure 1.5: Sketches of the nature, 16 May 2021
Figure 1.6: Pose ideas, 16 May 2021
Then I decided to take pictures of myself and follow the poses I made. This way I can also get the proportion of the body accurately.
