Week 1

Exercise 1: Quantify Data

Week 1 we had our first exercise by getting to know how to visually appealingly group informations together. Ms Anis had us find any objects around the house that we got and use them to make a good composition of infographic-like on a A4 paper. Students can use the legos that provided by lecturer but unfortunately I was not on campus so I made use of my watercolor cubes to do the composition at home.

FLIP 1: Different types of infographics & online tools

For FLIP 1, we had 2 tasks to do. We were assigned to make a slide presentation as a group about the different types of infographic, plus the kind of information they’re applicable for, and an example for each identified type. Second task is for every individual, we had to redesign an infographic that is not well designed. After Ms Anis briefed us about what to do for FLIP 1 Tasks, we started to contact our groupmates and do the presentation together as shown below in Week 2.

Week 2

Group Task: 13 Types of Infographics

Individual Task

Pick one free online infographic tool and re-design one poorly constructed infographic poster through your own experimentation with the selected tool.

After the group presentation, we started to do the individual task by redesigning an infographic.

Figure 0.3: Chosen existing infographic, 08 January 2022

This is a "List Infographic" that I have chosen to redesign, I decided to make some slight changes to this infographic to make it more reasonable and better in general.

Figure 0.4: Color changed, 08 January 2022

I changed most of the colors of this infographic that I had chosen, the background color was changed from bright green into dark brown while all the icons were changed from lime-ish color into white. These changes was to enhance the visibility of the infographic for the readers. The problem before was that the background color and the icons were too similar that it makes it quite unpleasant to look at.

Figure 0.5: Icons changed, 08 January 2022

For this part, I changed all the icons or you can call it design elements before into more relatable and reasonable icons that matches the meaning of the contents. This way, unnecessary elements will not be taking up the spaces and randomly be there meaninglessly. On top of that, readers will most likely prefer having the icons or visual graphics matches the content as well because of how it makes it easier to understand what the information is about.

Exercise 2: L.A.T.C.H

For this exercise, we were given the freedom to choose our own theme as long as it could fit under the L.A.T.C.H. concept. I had chosen to work on one of my favourite game recently, Sky: Children of the Light, I will be focusing with the first realm that the newbie moths would be starting in the Isle of Dawn. I have decided the design of this LATCH will be having the scene where the moths in game would start to launch flying and enters the other realm, Daylight Prairie. Then it would be nice to draw out the actual constellation from the Isle of Dawn to show the progression of that realm.

Sky: Children of the Light,  LATCH
Figure 1.6: Final Sky: Children of the Light L.A.T.C.H., Poster, 09 February 2022

The LATCH concept in this is used well as I have managed to put down all the informations with the hierarchy from bottom to the top in order to complete the first realm of the game, Isle of Dawn. Then I have put all of the spirits names in the order from A to Z. I have also positioned the spirits and the elder as an order of higher rank spirits gradually to the lower ranked spirits, which is from the top to the bottom.

Week 3

Typokinetic Exercise

In week 3, Mr Martin wanted us to finish the typokinetic exercise where we get to choose any song that we want and make a text animation or as a lyric video in our group. Then this is our final outcome.

Motion Graphic Chart

In this week 3, we were assigned to complete an motion graphic animation chart as an exercise to animation. Mr Martin had assigned everyone of us to each different charts like A: Donut Chart, B: Pie Chart, C: Bar Chart, D: Line Chart. Thus, I have gotten the C: Bar Chart to work on for my animation.

Week 4

Vector/ Character Animation

Figure 2.1: Separate files, 14 February 2022

After downloading the vector art C that lecturer had provided, I started to separate each layers into different files so it is easier for me to extract each elements that I want to animate.
